When you move overseas, you will need to look for a specialist firm to airfreight household goods from US and there are some very important things to think about beforehand.

The first thing you will have to do is work out which household items you are taking and which ones are going to be left behind. When this task is complete, you can take some measurements of your goods and get them weighed if possible. The next step will be to locate is a reputable freight forwarding firm and plan the move.

When you call the shipping contractors, they will make a detailed list of what you plan to send and where it will be going. You should always call a few different companies to get their prices so that you get the best deal. When you have made your decision on a company, they will issue you with packing crates or boxes and give you a convenient date for collection of your items.

When you pack up furniture and other items, you will need to ensure that everything is well wrapped and protected. It can be useful to make a check list and tick each item off as you package it so that you do not forget anything you wish to ship. When your goods are boxed, you will have to label each box with its contents and the destination address.

On the collection day, the company will send one of their drivers to collect your boxes and crates. When they have been collected, they are put into storage until they have to be taken and loaded onto an aircraft. On the flight day they will be driven to the airport before being loaded and taken to the destination country.

When your packages arrive at their destination they will be unloaded and picked up by a company used by the freight forwarders. They are then taken to a warehouse and stored until you collect or they can be taken to your new home. If they arrive before you do, it is important to have someone at your address to receive and inspect the goods.

The costs of shipping your freight will vary and will depend on a few key things. The amount of packages, weight and the final destination will all dictate what you are charged. If your goods are to be held in storage, you will pay the warehousing fees plus the costs of shipping, and this should be factored in to your budget.

It is very important that when having goods shipped by a company that you get some insurance cover in place. Most of the companies that handle freight will have standard cover and this will usually be enough for the majority of items.
